No changes from the draft list :(

Where do I find some resources on diseases (more so a list of them than actual info) as well as variants/hybrids?
replies may be slow
wishful thinking brings me to stare at the wonders of trees for hours upon hours

I made a list of changes to the tree list between last year and this years: Image

Lots of new invasives, removal of pines... not a fan. In total there were 13 original trees removed and 12 new ones added, so there are 151 species on the 2024 list

But the new trees are just as difficult as pines(some of the atleast). I'm still trying to find where the motivation I had before nats last year went... I tried making a ginkgo page but it took like 2 hours cuz I got distracted watching youtube

Honestly I'm not a fan of the pine changes either... especially since they removed some easier pines like Virginia, singleleaf, and bristlecone but they kept the yellow pines (which are harder imo)
Also highkey I really dislike the exotics/invasives lol (I should really learn ID first though)

It's been about 10 years since I coached this event for my daughter and I'm coaching again. Back then, the event pair could bring in two field guides and we chose the Audubon Eastern Trees and Audubon Western Trees, which had some overlap but each had entries not found in the other guide. What field guide has most (or better yet, all) of the list trees?

The rules send you to "store.soinc.org" but the only resource for Forestry that I found is the starter pack, no field guides.

Thanks!

I've not looked at many of the field guides, but I'm pretty sure you only get one field guide, and the one recommended by Soinc is the new Audobon Trees of North America, which has all the trees except for Saguaro, Joshua Tree, Candlenut, and Chinese Tallow. Many people also use the Sibley guide, check this wiki page for more information.

Hi forestry folks,

I'm running a Community Forestry Test that is made by students and alumni interested in test writing. No prior test writing experience is required! Each volunteer writes one station of the test so it's not a huge time commitment, and at the end, the stations are compiled into a full-length forestry test. For more info, here is the rules document: LINK

Additionally, some forestry study resources I have made:
Forestry Topic Quizzes
Forestry Video Lectures (After uploading a roots lecture I will probably end it there because of an overload of work)

My discord username is "scispork" if you have any questions.
Thanks and have a good season!

Is there a cap to how many people can do this? Because I'm not sure if I will but I'm interested and may or may not do it
