The math is straightforward: angle of incidence = angle of reflection.pumptato-cat wrote: ↑September 8th, 2023, 8:47 pm How are you guys preparing for the laser shoot?
I haven't started studying yet but I'm pretty sure there's math involved. I hope it's not just random guessing because that wouldn't be very fun...
Also, it's been a while since I've done a study event. Any general tips from people who've done Optics before or similar events? I mostly mained ID/builds so I'm very rusty on the whole studying thing, haha!
My strategy back in the day was to always try keeping the beam parallel or perpendicular to the midline for simplicity by putting movable mirrors at 45 degree angles to the midline.pumptato-cat wrote: ↑September 8th, 2023, 8:47 pm How are you guys preparing for the laser shoot?

I've started on the laser shoot. For now, I am just using 2 mirrors and eyeballing the angles, however, I've seen some people use templates.pumptato-cat wrote: ↑September 8th, 2023, 8:47 pm How are you guys preparing for the laser shoot?

You get four minutes to set your shoot up. Four minutes isn't very long. Anything that will speed up your mirror placement is helpful. This might be templates, to help you set the mirror angles. It might be pre-planning a scheme, so you don't have to stop and think - you just look at the shoot and see which of your pre-planned methods will fit they barrier layout.Oly4Life wrote: ↑November 1st, 2023, 1:58 pmI've started on the laser shoot. Are templates worth making and spending time on?

The wording implies that these are internal measurements. These instructions: https://soinc.org/sites/default/files/S ... 101107.PDFMehraPir wrote: ↑December 13th, 2023, 4:32 pm The rule 4.c says:
The LSS has a horizontal flat surface 56 ± 1.0 cm by 35 ± 1.0 cm enclosed by a 2 ± 0.5 cm thick wall.
Is the 56 cm x 35 cm measured from inside the walls or outside? Meaning, does it include the 2x2cm walls, or will the whole LSS end up 60 cm x 39 cm with the walls?
