Learning a new event for states

Hi! So i'm replacing one of our A-team members for states, and now I have to compete in dynamic planet. I have only competed in forensics, A&P, disease detectives, etc. Does anyone have any good study guides that I could use to prepare for states?

I was also in the same boat as you a few years back. I happened to look through the Scioly wiki, which might build basic knowledge. Then, I would recommend using the Soinc.org store and buying the Dynamic Planet starter pack for some info. FInally, make sure to familiarize yourself with basic USGS maps.

I'm not sure about Dynamic Planet specifically, but I'd warn against using soinc starter packs in general. They have okay information, but I used an Anatomy and Rocks+Minerals one a while back, and if I'm being honest, it is far better to do your own research. I would start by going through the rules sheet and researching every topic in-depth. In a way, the rules sheet serves as a study guide. It should cover everything(unless you have a crazy test writer...). If you have terrible memory like me, Anki might help a bit. Take notes if it helps retain information. Take EVERY practice test you can find. Also, the scioly.org wiki is a great way to start, but make sure you aren't limiting your research to only the wiki. Good luck! The studying process is similar, I think-having done A&P will benefit you.

They're super super helpful for getting foundations. Once you have the basics down, I mostly just search up the terms on the rules manual. You may also find it helpful to print out the glossary someone made at the bottom of this year's DP wiki.
