Any Road Scholar people up for a non-SO map contest?
Check this out: http://home.earthlink.net/~oldmaltese/index.html
This is like the biggest armchair-hobbyist mapping/travel contest in the world. It's something I've always wanted to do, except I have a knack for revisiting the site immediately after entry deadlines--- now entered in my annual calendar check software so it won't happen again.
Right now I'm wondering about:
1) Signing up some Road Scholar people interested in entering the official contest. Fester's Gang of Ringers.
or
2) Starting my own contest during the off-season with the only requirement of having been a competing member of a competing team the previous season (now).
Any thoughts?

Hey Fester, Road Scholar was my favorite event of B division after I caught fire at the end of my last season. I only skimmed the page, is this an online competition? If so, I'd love to try to do it. Or am I reading this wrong, is this a hosted event IRL that you're trying to do with your team? Either way, good luck.

Your entry buys a very specific edition of the big Rand McNally atlas (everyone uses the exact same version), and the questions. There are HUNDREDS of questions, and you can think you've gotten right until you discover you made a wrong turn 15 questions ago. It's NOT a contest you can do in a few hours.
I found out about it when someone gave me an old set of questions with a Route 66 theme. I've been a Route 66 buff since I was a kid, and even so it was a hellacious test. Yopu also have to know your history about just about everything. The people who write this stuff a far beyond "expert", and they have a knack for knowing what's NOT on the internet.

This look really fun. I'm not in Road Scholar but I'm a geography buff and I'm good with maps, so I'd love to try this.

I loved Road Scholar when I was in B division, and this sound like Road Scholar on steroids.
I would love to do this as well.
