The BirdSO planning team is excited to announce our upcoming invitational competitions for the 2022-2023 season! In particular, we are looking forward to our in-person competition, coming to Los Angeles next year.

BirdSO Satellite Invitational B/C
Mid-February, 2023; 1 week asynchronous
300 teams in each division

Dear Science Olympiad community,

The BirdSO Planning team is excited to present to you the 2023 BirdSO In-Person Invitationals, taking place on January 14th, 2023 (Division B) and January 28th, 2023 (Division C). Moreover, we are excited to present our hosts, Rio Hondo College (Div B) and Temple City High School (Div C). We are thankful for their help in bringing this event of this scale together.

All 23 events and trial events (TBD) will be run by state and national event supervisors from across the nation, flown in to Los Angeles, California to provide competitors with the best competition experience possible.

Registration will begin on October 14th, 2022 @ Noon PT (3 PM ET). To secure a spot, schools must register via the Google Form and payment must be received. More details regarding registration and payment will be available on our website, https://birdso.org, and the Google Form shortly.

Dear Science Olympiad coaches,

Registration for the 2023 BirdSO In-Person and Satellite Invitationals has started! You may register for both invitationals at https://forms.gle/xsRhJGm4MkDfL9yP8.

The In-Person Invitationals will be held on January 14th (division B) and January 28th (division C). The Satellite Invitational (division B/C) will be held on February 11th-18th. Like past years, the Satellite Invitational will be asynchronous—teams may compete at any time during those two dates, at school or an equivalent location. As usual, all 23 events will be run at both the In-Person and Satellite competitions.

To secure a spot at the In-Person or Satellite tournaments, teams must 1) register your team(s) in the Google Form and 2) Pay the registration fees ($175/team for In-Person, $85/team for Satellite). In addition to those two criteria, teams competing in the Satellite tournament must 3) register your teams in Scilympiad. Do NOT register your team(s) in Scilympiad if you are competing in the In-Person tournament.

There will be no limit on the number of teams per school. However, each team must be a registered team with your state organization.

We anticipate our tournament’s spots to fill up quickly. As such, teams should register as soon as possible to save their spot!

We hope your holiday season is going well! As of now, we have over 70+ teams in division B and 90+ teams in division C for the in-person competition. The competition takes place, in person in Los Angeles, on January 14th (B) and January 28th (C). If your team(s) would like to sign-up, register as soon as possible to secure your spot! When are the awards for the satellite invitational?

Last I checked, they're today, at 5:00 PM Pacific. (source: BirdSO 2023 updates document)

Was there a new update? I didn't see it. The last update I saw was on Feb. 9th and it listed the awards were Feb 25th (Sat) at 5 pm Pacific

It was emailed the other day that the awards show was pushed to Sunday.
