Possible Zoom Help Sessions
All WS and EWS flyers: We (NFFS) are considering some live zoom help sessions. These would be somewhat informal, probably initially focusing on trimming, probably with an opening summary and then Q&A and interaction. Format not certain yet. Ideally, some of you would call in from the gym and we could do some live trim adjustments. First off, is there interest? Second, when would be good time: During day, evening, weekend?

Re: Possible Zoom Help Sessions
Sorry about the short notice, but it looks like Monday March 7 will work best for the coaches. We wills tart at 5pm CST (4pm MST, 6pm EST) and go as long as needed.
This will be an informal session, with plenty of Q&A. You can join and listen/participate, or even better, join from you gym ready to fly!
Coach Brian and I will manage the session from home, so we can speak about trimming, answer questions, etc., but we are relying on participants to hopefully be able to demonstrate issues with their planes.
The session will be via zoom:
Join Zoom Meeting
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89575749268?p ... NmQkY5Zz09
Meeting ID: 895 7574 9268
Passcode: 289874
If you are flying, be sure you have plenty of rubber motors, or fresh batteries for EWS, knives and other tools, glue and accelerator, in addition to your regular flying equipment. Be prepared to measure your CG and incidence as needed. Please be ready to follow the plane with the camera (cell phone better than computer for this)
If you are not flying but can describe any issues you have, it would also be helpful if you have your plane and tools ready as well.
Coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend with the students.
We'll see how this works!

Re: Possible Zoom Help Sessions
Thanks to those who participated today. While the seminar focused on trimming, most of the participants were EWS, and so there was significant discussion of the motor/prop/cap system, charging, etc.
We plan to release the video of the session and will post a link here when it is ready.
We will look at dates/times for another session, perhaps try more of a focus on WS and rubber motors.

Re: Possible Zoom Help Sessions
Can you remind me how you measure voltage with the multimeter? What do you touch to the probes, exactly? Thanks!coachchuckaahs wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 6:01 pm Thanks to those who participated today. Re: Possible Zoom Help Sessions
You are measuring the voltage across the capacitor.
When we started, We had a separate set of leads and clips for the voltage measurement. This meant two sets of clips on the capacitor, since we do not use a charge jack, and this was just too much weight resulting in potential for damage.
We later wired the voltmeter leads into the charge wires, so only one connection to the plane.
If using a charge jack, AND a connector near the battery, wire the voltmeter leads into the charge leads near the plane plug. Plug in to charge while monitoring the voltmeter, then disconnect the connector at the charger to stop charging, leaving the plug plugged into the plane. This with display the launch charge voltage. Pull the plug when ready to fly

Re: Possible Zoom Help Sessions
I know on the Zoom session you explained how to put the charging system through the multimeter wires so that you can see the charge as you are charging. THANK YOU! My question is whether this system is legal for competition since multimeter is not listed in the rules. I wasn't sure if this system is only for practice.
Thank you!
Thank you!
