Fundraising

Post by brobo »

Hello!
At my school, just like at any other school, we need money for our Science Olympiad team. And I'm sure, just like other schools, our funds are fairly limited. Recently the idea of fundraising was brought up, but we're short on ideas. Has anyone else done fundraising for their Science Olympiad team? If so, what types? I'm just looking for ideas.

Thanks!

Well, we considered selling coupon books for our local grocery store, but then our band did that. Right now I think we'll be selling water bottles and certain types of candy during the school day for people who get thirsty/hungry. You know, if you sell a 24-pack of water bottles at a dollar a piece, you can make about $20 profit.

I know they're cliche, but if you're school will let you do bake sales, try and have one. It is however important to have something more then just the normal arrangement of sweets, we've found that Oreo Milkshakes can be quite popular.

You charge admission, or for a smash, you charge like 5 bucks a whack.

I don't think that our school district will approve of that... :|

I agree with brobo in that I don't think our school board would let us do this. First of all, there would be too many safety regulations. Second of all, where would we hold it and how do we get the resources for it? Keep in mind that East Stroudsburg Area School District is officially the most underfunded school district in Pennsylvania.

Thermite can be made with common elements in a chemistry classroom. (My teacher has made it in class). You get a cheap car from the junkyard or something, a few gallons of gas, a KABOOM!
If you want to do something they may actually let you do, just get the car and a large hammer. You may want to remove the windows before showtime though.
