The Amazing Race

Day dawns over the University of Illinois. The previous day, 120 teams of middle school and high school students competed at the Science Olympiad National Tournament. Today, 12 people are on campus, after ending what very well may be the season of a lifetime, they now embark on the adventure of a lifetime. They will be setting off on a race around the world. Twelve teams will race thousands of miles over twelve legs, but only one will cross the finish line first. This is: The Amazing Race. Some changes have been made from the popular reality TV show to fit the forums. Here are the rules:
1. The next twelve people to post will be participating in the race. You will be racing to solve clues quickly and efficiently. People who use the forums more often would be better fit to participate in the race, but we only ask that you have been around often for us to know who you are.
2. The race contains twelve legs. Each leg contains several clues pointing to your next destination. The clues get more difficult as the race goes on. When you correctly complete one clue, you will receive your next clue as soon as possible. We can’t be on all the time, remember. Please send your answer to robodude, not me. Robodude will be the handler of clues, both recieving and sending. Also, how specific you are varies, from a certain city to a teritory/state or even just a country. We won't count off for being too specific, but we will count off for not being specific enough. You will be notified of how specific you need to be in the clue.
3. There are five different types of clues: Roadblocks, Detours, Speed Bumps, Pit Stops, and U-Turns. Anyone who has watched the Amazing Race should be able to pick up on this very quickly.
3A. Roadblocks are simply a clue pointing to your next destination.
3B. Detours give you the option of selecting one clue or another. You can change which clue you wish to complete at any time with no penalty, and you only need to complete one to receive your next clue. The clues may point to different places.
3C. Speed Bumps are a clue that only one participant must complete, and will only come into play if a participant has been spared from elimination in a pre-determined non-elimination leg.
3D. Pit Stops are the final clue of each leg. It is simply a Roadblock that points you to the leg’s final destination
3E. U-Turns, while not necessarily a clue, allow you to force a team to complete both parts of a detour. There are two U-Turns in this race in pre-determined legs, and you will be notified when you are eligible to activate a U-Turn. Once a U-Turn has been used, the decision is final and no teams may use the U-Turn for the remainder of the leg.
4. Anyone may post, and there are no limitations to what you post (other than spam!). However, you MAY NOT post the final solution to a clue. But before you post your ideas on a clue, remember that you may be helping another contestant! We won't limit relationships either. If you want to form an alliance, so be it. But the participants will send and be sent clues over PM’s. Once every team has received a clue, that clue will be posted for everyone to see.
I, zyzzyva98, will be hosting this game, and robodude has created the clues with assistance from me, and will be distributing the clues. He will also co-host in my absence. Let the race begin!*
