I'm just wondering what the best material for the fins would be. Also, I'm trying to make the long cone right now, and im wondering what the best marerial to make that out of would be. I want to use something durable but also light, so that it doesn't bend when testing.

For the fins, I've seen many different approaches. It's probably not the biggest deal. I've seen 3d printed, foam board, cardboard, etc.

If by long cone you mean the tube design, try using flourescent tube guards.

We are experimenting with a sort of plexiglass, but it is a lot thinner.

The tube guards are great. I saw a 20 sec run using this in its design. Funny how they just bought the flourescent tube and only used the tube guard. Try explaining that to your local Home Depot lol.
