Planetary Gears

Post by jnickla1 »

I am the supervisor for an invitational competition in RI. I would like clarification regarding whether planetary gear sets could be included in the written exam portion of this event. Particularly, can I include problems involving a) the relationships between teeth numbers
Nr=Ns+2Np
and b) the rotational speeds
-Nr/Ns=(Ws-Wc)/(Wr-Wc)

I'm a bit late, but I have seen gears on both div B and C tests, so I think it should be ok. But in div b it just couldnt be a compound machine
