Weight relative to ramp

I read a paper that the weight will at a certain point slow down the car. With the max weight being 2kgs, do you go the full 2 or something lighter.
The ramp would be wood, but I don't know if I am going to use a metal or wood car.

My vehicle is 1996 grams. It gets 3.5 sec, and can travel around 14m. I will say, though, that unless you're at an ultra-competitive competition, time wont be nearly as large as a factor as accuracy. As long as you're accurate time shouldn't matter all that much.
