Extracurricular Thread
Hey guys! Do any of you participate in extracurriculars outside of SciOly? It feels like SciOly is taking up a majority of my time right now, and I was wondering if you guys try and participate in other groups/how you maintain a balance between SciOly and your other activities. I'm working hard, but I can't attend many meetings because of other work I have to do and it's stressing me out.
Plus, it's cool to see what else you guys do besides science. :p

Re: Extracurricular Thread
In the interest of simplicity, I will just link this: https://scioly.org/wiki/index.php/User: ... Activities
As for balance, I just had to prioritize certain things at certain times. For me, once cross country ended, SO took top priority until regionals (beginning of March). I had to accept that there were other things I maybe couldn't do to the best of my ability (chess, the musical, and district/region chorus festivals had significant overlap with SO) but I stayed in them because I still enjoyed them. Plus, they served as a nice change of pace from non-stop studying.

I do volleyball but that is in the fall so I don't really have to worry because we have time set aside at school for S.O.

Re: Extracurricular Thread
I basically have SciOly (our season just ended), ice skating, and Izaak Walton League but there's mandatory stuff my parents make me do like Chinese class. My parents are making me give up ice skating because it's too expensive and takes 'too much time'
they do have a point though

Re: Extracurricular Thread
I did Marching Band and academic competitions whenever I had the time in high school, including quizbowl. In college, I'm a part of the quizbowl club and I also help with church stuff.

^Same! (Although I'm technically in Latino Leadership... But I never go to meetingsUnome wrote:I maintained a balance by not doing any others

I did the same thing Unome did. That's also why I have 1000+ hours clocked into SciOly...

Re: Extracurricular Thread
Golf and QuizBowl are the two that take up lots of my time. Luckily for me, they don't interfere that often, but SO helps A TON with QuizBowl information
