Opinions?
Definition of sandwich - "an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal"megrimlockawesom wrote:My teacher made me write a DBQ with the prompt "evaluate the extent to which a hot dog is a sandwhich"
A hot dog bun is practically two pieces of bread, and does that mean that if your bun splits then it is definitively a sandwich? This is not a practical way to distinguish between them.Crimesolver wrote:Definition of sandwich - "an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal"megrimlockawesom wrote:My teacher made me write a DBQ with the prompt "evaluate the extent to which a hot dog is a sandwhich"
A hot dog will never be a sandwich
would hoagies be sandwiches then?Crimesolver wrote:Definition of sandwich - "an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal"megrimlockawesom wrote:My teacher made me write a DBQ with the prompt "evaluate the extent to which a hot dog is a sandwhich"

The dictionary characterizes them as sandwich, so according to the dictionary, yes it is. I guess those are just exceptions from the rule.Things2do wrote:How about submarine sandwiches?waffletree wrote: would hoagies be sandwiches then?
Well that is not the only way. Hot dogs have sausages in their cylindrical form, while sandwiches have "meat, cheese, or other filling." There really isn't much to compares. It's not like you put shredded up lettuce in your hot dogs.wec01 wrote:A hot dog bun is practically two pieces of bread, and does that mean that if your bun splits then it is definitively a sandwich? my thesis was a hot dog is a sandwhich to a very moderate extent. Although it does resemble a sandwhich, it lacks the 2 pieces of bread that other types of sandwhiches have. Also it has more significance in American culture than regular sandwhiches.megrimlockawesom wrote:My teacher made me write a DBQ with the prompt "evaluate the extent to which a hot dog is a sandwhich"
