Clarification on distance score

Hello.

We are wondering whether the distance score is measure by

1) direct measurement from the dowel on the vehicle to the desired target, even if the vehicle did not "cross" the center line

2) measurement from the desired target to the distance that the vehicle ran, extrapolated to the center line

For example, lets say (for a target of 10 meters) the vehicle did not cross back over the center line and stopped 10cm away from it but traveled exactly 10 meters if you draw a straight line from the front of the vehicle to the center line. How would that be measured?

Hope that makes sense, and if you can cite where in the RULES this is mentioned please do because I've read them multiple times and still fuzzy on that.

Thanks!

The distance is always measured from the target point to the tip of your dowel.
