Motor?

Post by waffletree »

Hey everyone, so I'm new to battery buggy and am currently looking at motors. I found motors in a huge range of RPM's, and I feel I should use a 6V motor with 1280 RPM, with 6V of battery. Is this a reasonable motor that I could use?
Also, could someone leave some websites that are good places to buy parts from.
Thanks!

The RPM doesn't have much influence it really depends how you gear the motor onto the axle.

However, the best websites (for me) to buy them from are either Amazon (lots of selections from different companies) or DigiKey

Depending on how heavy your buggy is, you may want to consider getting a 12V motor. It provides more power, but more batteries are also required to power it. My buggies were both a little over 1 kg, so they needed the 12V motor. I would definitely recommend the Pololu 25D, which is great because you can buy a set of two mounting brackets as well to make everything nice and compatible. Some great websites to look at for motorsare ServoCity, RobotShop, and Pololu.
