A few states modify the event slate, either by cutting events because they're small and don't have the resources to run everything, or for other reasons (e.g. NC). All-state music (KMEA) conflicted with regionals this year so many teams had multiple members missing.
Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.
