Last year I heard that a "drone obstacle course" may be added to the list of Trial Events. Anybody hear about this? (Seriously, how cool would this be??!)

That would be so much fun! It would have to be a build event though, I don't just being able to fly tiny drones is science and technology related enough. My school's Skills USA team hosts drone races for my town's local league, and seeing how the pilots took comercial kits and made modifications to them was really interesting. The only problem is that it is expensive as hecc, one drone costs about $100, not including the remote, fpv goggles, batteries, battery chargers, and so on. It would be really exclusive to more funded teams. Lower funded teams might find it difficult to compete in this event.

It's also really dangerous, and really difficult event. Although it may be fun for the few who can get it to work, I feel that there would be a lot of no-shows, especially at lower level competitions.

It would be really fun but what does it have to do with science.

Doubt it'll happen, I don't think I can even get a drone off the ground.
I can't imagine the amount of extreme safety measures that have to be put on the event too...
