Heyo! I did this event as a trial at the Ohio state tournament last year. It is a lab event where you build an antenna before competition and take a test about radio spectrum information and different components involved with communications technology (primarily radio frequency based comms).

Here are the rules to the event held in Ohio: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8J6w ... 0xPR3pKU0E

I’m assuming that Texas probably has similar rules to this. I can provide anyone with the resources that I put in my binder last year if anyone wants (Placed fifth without even building an antenna lol)

The rules (for wifi lab) on soinc were different than those on the Texas page. After contacting the Texas coordinators I learned we should use those posted on the Texas page.

Is it possible to use an antenna that I’ve bought online?
And what are some good distances to go by when testing the antena?

Well, the rules (specifically Rule 3.d) say “the antenna may be constructed of and contain any materials EXCEPT for commercial antenna parts or magnets... so I wouldn’t.

I feel that it will not be easy. But worth a try. Why would it be better to start, can you advise something to the mechanic?
