Going back to the original question, how could it be animal?? The only fibers that produce noxious gas/odors are synthetic (ex: Nylon)...

Could you please clarify?

Well, I personally have burned synthetic, animal, and vegetable fibers, and from what I've observed, the vegetable turns black right away, the synthetic melts quickly, and the animal lets off a noxious scent. This is only what I've observed, but yeah, that's what I've got.

I am not sure, but I feel that you are getting confused by the term noxious. A noxious gas or odor is generally harmful to ppl (like us ).
