Toughest Regions
There has been plenty of discussion about the most competitive states. So, why don't we extend this to regions? Which single region do you think has the highest amount of competitive teams?

Re: Toughest Regions
I think SEPA (Southeastern Pennsylvania) must be up there in terms of difficulty, although admittedly, I'm not very familiar with regions around the country0ddrenaline wrote:There has been plenty of discussion about the most competitive states. Re: Toughest Regions
For Pennsylvania, Southeast definitely takes the cake for Division C. Harriton, Rustin, Penncrest, Conestoga, Strath Haven, and Lower Merion are all there.
This year UCC regional in NJ for Division C was also pretty tough, since they had Princeton, both WWP North and South, Stevens, and South Brunswick. I am not sure if it's that stacked every year though, since regions in NJ seem to be a bit more fluid.
This is an interesting topic; I'm not sure what are some other strong regions in other states (B and C), so it should be neat to see people from other states weigh in!

Re: Toughest Regions
I can only speak to states I'm familiar with, obviously.
For Illinois, "regions" only really mean something for teams in western no-man's land, the Rockford area, and the Saint Louis suburbs (all relatively noncompetitive areas). The teams in the Chicagoland area move around so much that it's always changing to some extent. And, not all of the region Web pages are updated with team lists, so I can't, even, intelligently comment yet.
For Missouri (a state where "regions" made much more sense), my impression was that the strongest teams were clustered around Saint Louis, Columbia, and Kansas City. Of course, those are in vastly different parts of the state, so...

Re: Toughest Regions
In Indiana, you get to choose your regional tournament, but there typically isn't rhyme or reason for which team chooses which regional. For example, Carmel goes to Butler because it's the closest, but we used to go to Ivy Tech West Lafayette, which was farther in terms of distance.
This year, the Butler Regional is arguably the most competitive, with Carmel, Bloomington South, and Bloomington North. Purdue University Calumet will have Munster and Whiting, so that looks like a strong regional as well. In the past couple of years, Lake Central and Northridge have gone to the same regional (can't remember which at the moment).

Re: Toughest Regions
I'm pretty sure they meant regions as in Regional competitions, but those are definitely very competitive areas.Fanglin wrote:SoCal, Northern Midwest, Texas, and New England... I may be wrong though
