I have a question that's been burning on my mind...if the bridge dips down into the Minimum Clearance area (the 30 x 12.5 area) while being tested (because it's sagging due to the weight of the load), is the bridge disqualified?

I think it does; If it can't pass the bearing zone as discussed brfore it probably can't dip down either

But the rules only specify that loading of the bridge will stop when the bridge sags to below the very bottom base line; it does not say anything about the bridge sagging into the 30cm x 12.5cm area.

As I understand the bridge CAN dip into the standard minimum clearance while testing.

Yea, It would be rather ridiculous to say it couldn't that's not exactly something that's controllable

No, it is how the bridge is before testing. If the bridge hasn't failed it is not disqualified.
at the competition, the judges won't make you stop loading so they can measure your bridge in the middle of loading.

It won't be disqualified unless it sags so much that the bucket is touching the floor

It's fine if it sags into the clearance area, it's fine if it (somehow) gets taller and goes over 20cm, and it's fine if it slides outside the 55cm bearing. If it sags enough that the bucket hits the floor, that's not okay, and if the bridge touches the surface within the 45cm clear span, that's not okay. Testing stops and the bridge is considered to have failed (not a DQ and can still be tier 1, just will stop loading then).

Or, you know, if the bridge breaks.

Hi guys, seasons done for me so i decided to do something ive always wanted to do...i embraced the child within me and build a B bridge

It was a mixture of balsa and bass, weighed in at 10.2g and held 9.5kg, 931 eff...here it is:

I was just wondering 2 things:

Ya know those long diagonals from the bottom of the legs to the apex of the compression? I made them out of high density 1/16 squared bass....good choice? It seemed so, but weight-wise im pretty sure i could go lighter...

So, the V that comes in between the compression and the tension...does that put more pressure on the tension? It seems like instead of one long piece taking that much tension, its two shorter pieces, each taking the same amount...am i just a babbling buffoon of a bridge builder or do i spout some truth?

couple Q's, state is in one week and I need to tweak my bridge

Should tension be as light as possible?

Does anyone use different glues for tension and compression?

And finally, is it bad to microwave a bridge as a faster and cheap alternative way than baking the bridge? , If time is not your friend...
