Have you read The Time Paradox? It's the newest book in the series.

The Artemis Fowl books started off really good and have slowly gone down hill. I'm not saying they are bad, I am just saying they are not as good as they were. No, I haven't read the newest one, for all I know it could be very good, just my opinion on the ones I have read.

yeah The Time Paradox was the one I was talking about. It kinda confused me, but I guess thats because its a paradox.

Artemis fowl books are pretty good, not the best, but good for a casual read. I am a huge fan of the ender books, i think the next one might be called shadow flight? something like that.
anyone a fan of the pendragon books? i heard there's a new one that just came out.

Yeah, I like the Pendragon books as well. I own the new one- it has sat on my shelf since it came out. I am having a hard time getting myself to read it. It's not that the books are bad, but as gneissisnice pointed out, they are starting to drag a little. I think there is only one more book though. The overall plot is good, but it is starting to get complicated somewhat. I am sure once I start reading it everything will be good and interesting, it is just getting to that point...

Has anyone else read the Young Wizards series (So you want to be a wizard, etc)? Did you understand the last book? It got very weird- I have to read it again, the next one is coming out soon.

Why is it that with series like those two as soon as you hit book 11, 12, or 13 things must get insanely complicated- I understand that it may be necessary for the book to continue, but sometimes (and being me I hate saying it) enough is enough with books. Most of my favorite books/series leave you wondering.

Only a couple of months until the next Tamora Pierce comes out....

I help out every year for battle of the books, which is a competition where they ask a bunch of questions for 12 (starting this year, 8) books. I wrote the questions for "So you want to be a wizard", and the book, in my opinion, didnt make sense. I mean, they put the world in jeopardy so Nita could get her pen back? What a weak plot.

And Tamora Pierce is coming out with a new book? i didnt know that. I really enjoyed the Circle of Magic series, and the Circle Opens, but I didnt love the Protectors of the Small. A bit too feminine for me.

She is my favorite author by far. I love both of her worlds. Protector of the small, while I still thought it was really good, was not the best illustration of her Tortall world. Try the Immortal's quartet (Daine the WIldmage- my favorite of her quartets) or The Lioness books. After that all of her books are mainly in the past or future of her original characters, but with different main characters. Some of my favorite books by her fall in this category. Her circle of magic book are also really great- they are what got me into her. I have to re-read those again, I haven't read them in a while.... Have you read a Circle Reforged (err, the actual title is The Will of the Empress)?

Anyway, her new book is coming out in April I think. Bloodhound, sequel to Terrier (about Beka Cooper). Very good book. I can't wait for 2010, this book is when Tris goes to Lightsbridge, though. That book NEEDS to come out.

I'll stop now or I will never shut up about her... :D

EDIT: And as far the Young wizards books- I never quite understood them, but they were decent when I had nothing else to read- along the lines of pendragon. They were readable.

This forum keeps reminding me of books I want to go back and read now. Garth NIx- Sabriel, Lireal, Abhorsen anyone? Or the Keys to the Kingdom, but I haven't read those in a while, good but towards younger kids. And of course Diana Wynne Jones's CHrestomanci books. Now I'll shut up (hopefully).

I did read "Will of the Empress" and I thought it was good, but I liked her other ones better. I also read the Immortals quartet and 2 books in the Lioness series, but those were only decent. And last I checked, she was writing a book about what happened to Brair, Rosethorn, and Evvy between "Street Magic" and "Will of the Empress". Did that ever come out?
And currently, Im reading Jane Eyre for English. The story is kind of bland but the writing is exceptional.
