Re: Science Olympiad Classes
Are there any powerhouse teams (like the great teams in competitive states) that don't have classes?
If you have classes, what does your team do for building events during the class time?
If you have classes, what does your team do for building events during the class time?

The people from schools that I have talked to from the competative states (like OH, PA, NY) have all actually said that they don't have classes. In all reality, if teams have a bunch of coaches (which I bet most of the good ones do), the need for a class isn't really present anyway.

Re: Science Olympiad Classes
Yeah, at Gelinas, we just meet pretty much every day after school. There's nothing during the school day (although the teams at our Regionals- with their conspiracy theories about us- always think that we just work on SciO instead of going to class).

Re: Science Olympiad Classes
Sweet to answer what my team does for building events, oh btw here at BVHS we have a class and i sucs, those in the events will build in the shops building but do most of their testing in the classroom, i mean it for SCIENCE olympiad we should at least be able to use a science lab not a Lang arts class room, any way most stuff for building events is built at the school or at least made better at the school. So a Sci O class is a waste of time considering there are people that take the class just cause they think it will be an easy A. Well that was last year this year is better cause the peeps that dont care are alternatesgh wrote:Are there any powerhouse teams (like the great teams in competitive states) that don't have classes?

Neither does W-M. But I do believe Goff middle school, and perhaps Columbia High School maybe since they're their high school have classes during school hours?

Re: Science Olympiad Classes
I will be taking a SO class next year I dont know how many others from my team will do it. I believe its a good thing to do as well if you can do it, I talked with my coach/teacher about when I would be starting the class [would be late October so I would be well prepared to compete]

My school doesn't have these, but how exactly does grading work? As much as I think of scioly as an extracurricular, I think a class could really help my team.dontsenditinthemail wrote:The people from schools that I have talked to from the competative states (like OH, PA, NY) have all actually said that they don't have classes.
