Re: Sounds of Music B
This is gonna be pretty random but do any of you know if there's gonna be a 2015 Sounds of Music event? Because my partner and I are disagreeing on instruments but since she's one grade below me she said she'll let me build my instrument ONLY if there's going to be another event next year. I really can't convince her otherwise

It's very likely that it WON'T be an event next year.couragecat wrote:This is gonna be pretty random but do any of you know if there's gonna be a 2015 Sounds of Music event? Re: Sounds of Music B
Aw darn it. Well my partner and I finished building a pvc pipe marimba. Would a violin go well with it? My partner says that she'll build it out of tin and cardboard or something...she never really explained how but she said that she will build a violin no matter what.chalker wrote:It's very likely that it WON'T be an event next year.couragecat wrote:This is gonna be pretty random but do any of you know if there's gonna be a 2015 Sounds of Music event? Hard part of a violin is making/finding a good bow, otherwise it works. I personally would start off with a guitar or some strumming instrument.

Re: Sounds of Music B
Does anyone here have an MP3 of Hornpipe? I'm judging this event this week and I'd like to hear the piece before the competition.

Re: Sounds of Music B
A wooden stick with two blocks on either end, and nylon string threaded between the two blocks (and maybe and eye hook or something to tighten it). You might wanna go looking for tree resin or something as makeshift rosin (i don't think you can use commercial rosin).thisusernameistaken wrote:How would you make a violin bow?
EDIT: I'd recommend NOT making a violin, as bows usually have bad quality sound, strumming instruments are usually the way to go in the beginning!

Re: Sounds of Music B
The only thing is that the version printed in the rules is extremely simplified compared to most orchestral recordings. It was honestly a little confusing.computergeek3 wrote:Does anyone here have an MP3 of Hornpipe?
