Oof, yeah, Ohio is quite possibly the toughest state right now. New York isn't easy either, but fortunately my team is definitely among the contenders for first :D

Every time I think Michigan is tough, I just think about Ohio or New York and think I'm lucky. I mean sure, I compete against the 2nd best team in the country, but Ohio and New York usually have 2 teams in the top 10.

I mean I do well in my events. I beat those top 10 teams (Solon, Mentor, Centerville) in all my events, but my teammates don't do as well. So its essentially impossible to get to nationals because the entire team has to do well. Those elite teams are incredible because they do well in every event. Ok enough ranting... Can you guys tell me what nationals is like? Competitiveness? Is the national medal much larger than a state medal? (a picture would be nice :P )

Nationals is cool, because you meet other SciO kids from all over the country, it's a longer competition with more extra ceremonies and stuff, and a lot more effort goes into putting it together. That being said, the events aren't necessarily written any better than at most States, some teams can get a little over-competitive (e.g. in '07, some people from one of the other schools cursed out a member of my team when she said hi because they thought she was being patronizing or something), and navigating the campus is always more difficult  . As for competitiveness, it really depends on which state you come from- being from Ohio, it's probably not that much more competitive than your States; someone from, say, Arkansas would have a completely different experience.
The medals are bigger, but I don't have a picture, sorry :P
