Can you explain this for me? Haha sorry, I just didn't understand why the ratio was what it is. Also what would be the the desirable number for building events?twototwenty wrote:For quiz:
Team: Points attributed to non-builds, percentage of total attributed to non-builds
FM: 140, 80
WM: 167, 61
Syosset: 152, 50
Columbia: 233, 76
Half Hallow Hills East: 275, 78
Brighton: 252, 61
The desirable percentage of points from non-builds, in accordance to the ratio of building to non-building events, is 76. Of course, a team would want to achieve this by doing better in the field of events with the too-high percentage of points, but nice job Columbia for having a perfectly balanced score.

Re: New York 2013
The first number is the number of points that team got for non-building events. The second number is just what percent of their totals score the points of the non-building events made up. Because there are 6 building events out of 25 events total, 24 percent of your score should be from builds, and the other 76 percent should be from testing events. Thus, Columbia got a perfectly balanced score, because these percentages were what they got.

Re: New York 2013
Anyway, with a real question: is anyone else here in the Midwestern region? I don't think so, but the reason I ask is because the Pal-Mac invite (in the Midwest region) is not listed at all on the NY website, and I'm wondering if that's indicative of whether it will take place this year.

This is super late but whatever.smartypants01 wrote:I have noticed that Gelinas is starting to lose its thunder. Two years ago, Gelinas placed 3rd at nationals. The past two years, Gelinas has come in 2nd at states, though not by much. However, I feel that Eagle Hill and Gelinas will go to nationals again because the difference between 2nd and 3rd place last year was over 150. As for Division C, I have no idea what will happen, as I am in B, but FM will probably win again.
I'd still like to politely disagree with this.
Gelinas is certainly not losing our thunder.
The last two years we've lost states but ended up beating Eagle Hill at Nationals, not to mention that you're really only using 2009 as evidence. We've made nationals 8 out of 9 years since 2003, and we are working just as hard as the team members before us, if not harder, to continue this streak.
