When you're writing, are you allowed to touch/pick up & look at what you're writing about?

What was the structure at nationals like?

It had a wooden base with holes in it, where we stuck sticks with colored tape. There were chem tubes that we fit between the sticks, and we built knex on top of the thing. There were a couple pipecleaners

Rarely. Usually not as most supervisors don't have enough time to glue everything down. However, I do remember at the regional last year we were able to pick the build up and look at it, but it was made of lego.
Ask before the event begins as paper is being passed out, as well as if colors are consistent between the build and the supplied materials.
