-The signature about astronomy may relate to Reach for the Stars, another event MadCow has done
-The clue about Lake County: Lake County, IL contains a city named Barrington, and MadCow attends Barrington HS

The cipher is Beaufort. With a key of TheCrazyChemist (Staples), it decodes to "heworksatwalmart". BennyTheJett's occupation is working at Walmart.

EDIT: On ID, the sig says "Mustelidae and Greek warriors". Mustelidae is a family of order Carnivora, containing badgers, otters, weasels, wolverines, ferrets, etc. Greek warriors may refer to Trojans or Spartans. If we take Spartans and Badgers, those are two Big Ten colleges (Michigan State and Wisconsin). Perhaps the sassy lives in the Midwest?

Building off what I said about ID earlier, Mustelidae likely refers to wolverines (Michigan). Greek warriors is Spartans (Michigan State), and Lions and Tigers are NFL and MLB teams in Detroit, respectively. I'm getting a strong MI vibe here.
