I agree. NJ always has some whack conflicts each year (like last year's herp/fossils conflict)
for real... what's with this forensics and protein conflict that's like two out of the three chem events scioly has wth
fossils/geo mapping conflict too bro like why

But in general, my issue with it is that different teams have different conflicts, which isn't fair (historically speaking)
I agree. it puts some teams at a disadvantage. does anyone know the reason why NJ scioly always does this??
Nobody has a clue honestly. It bothers me as well since different teams have different conflicts which means they won't get the same chances to put their skills as other teams. It's been an issue that, if you look at the threads from past years, has shown itself (I think at least since 2014 or so). I hope NJSO can fix this in the near future.

More than likely, a coach (or multiple) voiced a concern, and they revised based on that. NJSO has never paid attention to complaints made here
otherwise their issues would have been fixed a long time ago.

After Yale Invite 2020, my [completely unbiased] predictions have changed slightly, but not by much:
Here goes 2020 NJ States predictions round 2 (based solely off MIT and Yale Invites) (plus regionals for 5 and 6):
1) West Windsor-Plainsboro HS North (69)
2) Montgomery HS (77)
3) West Windsor-Plainsboro HS South (89)
4) South Brunswick HS (147)
5) East Brunswick HS (148)
6) Still debating between JPS and PHS

(~200)
South's builds still seem to be lacking and it's going to cost them the state title this year. Monty came in with a stronger than predicted performance at Yale which is usual of Monty. Monty usually has ups and downs (bi annually?) for some reason, but this year seems to be their good year. But anyways, North pulled off an impressive third at MIT with their unstacked team, beating out South's completely stacked team. They have some great talent. South also has good talent with select study events, but some of their study events, especially fossils, detector building, and dynamic planet, seem to be lacking. Mostly earth science events actually, but that can all change before states. Overall, NJ states is always interesting because of the North-South bloodbath, but it may very well be a North-Monty battle this year. Stay tuned for my updated prediction after Princeton/Penn!

From what I heard, South was missing some people at Yale (CMIMC maybe?), so Yale wouldn't be a great representation for how good their team is. Can anyone validate this?
