Re: Road Scholar
Did they want you to draw contour lines, or features like lakes, rivers, and buildings?

Re: Road Scholar
Please help me, I am pretty much a beginer to road scholar and it's pretty hard to understand everything. I have found that the best way to learn is take a practice test and learn it as you go along. But if there is anyway sombody could give me everything I need to know about topo maps for the test that would be great.

Re: Road Scholar
It's not very difficult to learn. If you have the booklet, that's all you need. This is my 2nd year doing Road Scholar and I know everything there is(in my opinion).

Re: Road Scholar
I agree with the second sentence, not so much the 1st. I'll ignore the 3rd. The booklet is really really helpful. This booklet I believe is called The Coaches manual to Road Scholar and it can be found in the soinc.org store. The booklet has everything that you will need to know including: azimuths, bearings, stream gradient, slope gradient, determining mileage, profiling etc. It's great for the competition also because it has everything you need in one source.crazibanana_51 wrote:It's not very difficult to learn. Obviously, it takes time to go through the book, as I think there are 13 lessons. Afterward though, I think it's a great idea to take practice tests, and lots of them.

Re: Road Scholar
Yep It's very hard to learn the material unless you have the book or have a very knowledgeable coach, luckily last year we had both

Re: Road Scholar
I agree with that. This year and last year, I've had a very good coach which made it sooo much easier to learn. Without her, I don't think I would be as good as I am now.
