So, you basically just follow the instructions/guidelines while you are supplied with any materials you may need right? There are specific things that you have to make? :?

For the long summary, read the [wiki][/wiki]. Here's the short summary: You walk into a room and they give you a set of materials, which could basically be anything. You create an experiment using any and all of the materials, and then you do a write-up based on the scientific method. Normally they give you a few pieces of paper that are labeled to keep you organized, so you don't have to memorize everything. When you completely finish with the experiment and write up, you are done! Be sure your experiment fits into any guidelines that the supervisors give, for example nerdygrlz's experiment had to be something relating to viscosity.

Sometimes, they give you a very specific experiment, like "conduct an experiment that demonstrates how greater air resistance slows the fall of an object" (that was just random) or they could just give you something like "conduct an experiment dealing with force and motion".

At our regionals last year, they basically just gave us what to do for the experiment, like what liquids and mixtures to use. It disappointed me because I had prepared for the open-ended version that I was expecting and kind of looking forward to.

...and being sure you don't leave anything out of the write-up. Have the rubric memorized backwards and forwards.

wait I'm confused. So all you have to do is pretty much make a experiment out of some random stuff they give you and has to be related to what they tell you?
