My mom is a science teacher :D and we bought this electronic thingy. You stick these cards that have pictures of birds on them in it, and press a button next to the picture of the bird you want. Then it will make the bird call of that bird. You can buy lots of different cards e.g. Yard Birds 2

or you can just go online and listen to bird calls? thats what i do...

Backyard Bird Song book!!! It's good for vocalization! :D
it's uber expensive at borders, like, $30; but i bought mine at costco for really cheap! Like, $15!!!! HALF THE PRICE!!!!!! :D :D :D

It's just the US. That's why there's only nationals not world wide or something.
edit:competition wise. bird wise, it is North America

From the 2010 Manual
1. Decription: This event will test knowledge of North American birds on the official list.

So North America, not just U.S., and on the list. Though who knows what some crazy judge will do. :lol:
