Actually, I would probably start learning the basics on birds, but I would wait until I got the list before I went into specific birds.

maybe its old, but its bound to have at least
one bird thats going to be on this year's right? i mean, i take it like the fossils list...it wont change that much over the years...but thats just me...
you could still study bird anatomy and stuff....id like to see the day when
that changes (though of course you might say we might not have to know it but w/e...

)

I know that the 1995 A+R list was three pages, last year's list was two, and this years list was one.
So my guess is that thier going to cut at least parts of the 1998's bird list out, but its still a really good starting point.
My advice would be: start birdwatching / getting used to the sounds around your neighborhood, go to the library, and start memorizing the ids you think are going to be on this years list.

Yeah, i doubt its gonna be that long, thats pretty big.
I really wanna do this event though =(.
Stupid high school ending at 12th grade.
Actually, not really, i would not have survived another year of high school.

i don't study birds, but it looks like the dove has a shorter neck than the pigeon...
