It's NJSO. What do you expect?
lol remember optics b getting cancelled last year...i was doing optics
I was trying to convince an alum from our team to be an ES at States for this year and he was trying to estimate the probability he'd be necessary and decided it would be like a 50% chance that they were going to need more ES's at the last minute. Thankfully they managed to find people to run all of my events last year but at one point a week before the competition, every single one of them didn't have a supervisor yet and in the end they did cancel the build portion of wind power... there have got to be so many people qualified to be ES's and yet they're always short people, do people just not know about the need for supervisors or something?

In most places there definitely aren't enough people qualified to be event supervisors. In places with large and active alumni associations, it seems like many of them eschew regional and state tournaments (exceptions being Caltech, Cornell, UT-Austin, and UChicago).

I guess I always felt like New Jersey is practically a part of New York City and Philadelphia, plus Princeton now has an invite, and idk I just figured those people ought to be able to manage it...

Basically what your saying is that they SHOULD have ESs on EVERY SINGLE EVENT at states, and they SHOULD HAVE EVERY SINGLE EVENT AT REGIONALS, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER REGIONALS IN ANY OTHER STATE.
*coughs*
I'm so passive-aggressive.

Regionals and States always coincide with Princeton's winter finals and spring midterms, which reduces the number of Princeton students available to help out.

Yes we are.

Ideally. yes. It's a difficult task that nobody wants to do, but given the number of Science Olympiad alumni, this should theoretically be possible.

No, you're not being passive-aggressive here. Clearly, the only thing you ARE being here is a jerk.

Sometimes seniors from our school take classes at Princeton so there was indeed one year when half the officers couldn't go to Regionals because they had a midterm at Princeton that day, so I guess I should've already realised that they coincide, lol.

Also, NJ is far from the only state that has event issues. Perhaps one of the more high-profile states, especially recently, but not the only one.

Wait, I thought PA was unusually aggressive?
