On a somewhat related note, I was looking at the list of all the members, and I sorted it by post count. There are 492 pages of users with 25 users listed per page. Only 43 full pages (with one on p 44) of them have any 'relevant' posts at all. The rest have just posted in general chat or not at all. That's only 1076 'useful' users out of the total 12283, a whopping 8.76%. Fascinating...

At the time that phpBB3 replaced OBB, OBB had 10474 users. We migrated the usertable over to phpBB3 so that people would not have to reregister. We did not migrate their postcounts (or posts).
The majority of current users were never on the OBB board, so a better estimate would be your "1076" divided by ("12283"-10474), or about 60%.

It looks like on the OBB board, 4550 out of the 104674 posted at some point. That would be a 43%.

So I'd guess the actual 'useful' users / all users is just a little more than 50%, if you don't neglect the users who came from OBB to phpBB3 as we did earlier.
