From my observations, I wouldn't recommend springs. I witnessed another team's spring tangle and ruin one of their drops. Though, if you can find a way so that it doesn't tangle, then by all means use it. I still have a preference for elastic cords (:

Even so, I used a spring at an invitational and it still had one of the highest elasticity. Over 300% i think.

Is anyone else thinking that the elasticity test tolerance level is going to be really low for nationals, thus weeding out the "not so good" teams, putting many in the fourth tier? I'm worried about that, do you think I should be? Any speculation is helpful...

Are you referring to the bottom meter stretching to 1.25 w/ 500g? I feel this is pretty cut and dry. It either is or it isn't. If your device is that close to not meeting the requirements, then you might want to change it so there is not even room to be questioned.

When measuring the bungee, do they measure the bottom of the ring as the bottom of the cord or the lowest part of the bungee. We use two rubber bands and one is tight while the other is more loose for the added height. The second rubber band dangles below the ring while at rest.

After nationals I have come to an even stronger conclusion than before that a unified dropping system needs to be established. Crazy things were going down. How do y'all think the event will change next year?

BuildistFromTheNorth, I agree. I saw you at the competition btw at bungee. I was wearing a tan colored shirt We've been talking to Bear and hopefully something will be done.

Agreed. There seems to be many uncontrollable variables in this event. Additionally, throughout the year I had way too many students leaning over railing and out of windows which really was a concern.
