It wasn't hard, if I finished before other teams I think we could have won cjkowalcz!

Hey guys, I have this event soon! I feel like Write It Do It always puts more stress on the writer.

That's because it does. Think of it like this:

A bad writer's performance affects both scoring of the writer's and doer's parts.
A bad doer's performance affects only scoring of the doer's part.

Of course, for this event more than any other, you do need two to tango.

I don't get to compete in this at nationals, which makes me very very unhappy. Humph.

I've done both parts of widi, and for me, being a doer was more stressful. I would never recommend widi to someone who doesn't think they could handle pressure well.

Really? I feel sorry for my writer haha. I really like doer and don't find it that stressful.

Our Write It Do It at states was very simple, and I think it just came down to which builder finished first. It was 100% Legos with 4 separate pillars making a square with a roof over top.

My kids (a B and a C -- one was a writer, one a doer) said the State WIDI was too easy. A good WIDI needs to be challenging enough to naturally rank the kids. When my 12 yo doer left the room she said that everyone's build looked identical. It was no surprise that the WIDI scores were the last to be turned in and they came in half way through the award ceremony! The poor judge had to break a 25 way tie for C and a 25 way tie for B because everyone nailed it... Our kids were disappointed that they didn't really get to show off what they've been working on. It's sort of like going in to take a math test and every problem is simply adding two one-digit positive integers. Everyone gets it right and the tie breakers end up being who wrote the number 7 the neatest... Sigh.

An easy WIDI doesn't really let the best prepared teams shine. A too-easy one can be done well by most teams - a harder one will result in good builds (ones that match) bad builds and everyting in between.

Our write it do it was marshmallows and toothpicks. Personally I thought it was too easy (finished in five minutes and got first), but there were people that apparently thought it was super hard
