Re: General Mission Possible
I have another one. For task 4b (wedge between two objects....), if I had a wedge drop to push two balls apart down ramps which came back together to start the next task, would that be considered a parallel action and/or would it not meet the term "separated" since they came back together. There are of course other ways to do this, but one of the kids came up with this idea and I was not sure if it was within the scope of the task or not. Thanks.

I'm having difficulty visualizing what you are describing. Could you possibly make a drawing or describe it in a bit more detail?mattravn wrote:I have another one. Re: General Mission Possible
Well, if that drawing is representative of what was meant, it may or may not be legal. If only one of the balls is sufficient to trigger the next task, moving the other would almost certainly be considered a parallel task. However, if both are needed, then you're probably fine. Again, this is definitely not an official clarification, submit those through soinc.org (although for something like this you might not get a response without more detail/specifically addressing a confusing line in the rules). In any case, I probably would design something that is more conservative and leaves no question in the event supervisor's mind.mnstrviola wrote:http://scioly.org/w/images/8/85/Mp.GIF

Re: General Mission Possible
So, let's say the next action required 5lbs. and the balls weighed 3lbs. each. Since both are needed to trigger the next action, it would not be considered a parallel task?chalker7 wrote:Well, if that drawing is representative of what was meant, it may or may not be legal. Re: General Mission Possible
Yeah, that would not be a parallel task since every action is required to keep the sequence of tasks progressing.mnstrviola wrote: So, let's say the next action required 5lbs. and the balls weighed 3lbs. each. Re: General Mission Possible
Yes, your drawing was spot on. Thanks for the discussion. I probably will go with something less ambigious to avoid any chance at causing issues but I did want to ask since the kids came up with the idea.chalker7 wrote:I'm having difficulty visualizing what you are describing.
