Just looking at numbers so far, what you're saying isn't happening, winneratlife.
Nope. Mathematically, if the average would be 50, and you pick x, then the new average would be 5 times closer to 50 than to x if there were 6 people. Of course, I like making assumptions under statistical perfection, but 50 is still the smartest thing to send in.
The voice comes back to life.
"EpicFailOlympian...
...please remain here. Everyone else, continue through the door."
EFO sprints toward the door, but an invisible force throws him backwards. RandomPerson52 and IdahoSciGuy safely pass through the door. From the other side, they can hear EFO's weak, gasping breaths. They don't have time to ponder this for long before a bright image lights up all four of the room's walls.
Upon seeing this, fmtiger groans. Someone may make their last stand here. Who? When you find your name, send us a PM with where in the puzzle you found it. You don't want to be last.

The voice comes to life once more as an exuberant IdahoSciGuy cheers from across the room. He has found his name already and will pass through the door. Will you?
EDIT: fmtiger has now passed through the door.

EASTstroudsburg and paleonaps remain in the room, staring at the puzzle. Both are nervous- they're at the end of the pack, and either one could be left behind. Both EAST and paleo give a shout of victory nearly simultaneously- but who found their name first? The voice answers that.
"EASTstroudsburg13..."
"pass through the door." Not wanting to stay in the room any longer, EAST sprints towards the doors that quickly shut behind him. The other four remaining participants see him arrive out of breath, and EAST and the four others face... an empty room. Nothing between them and the door. No challenges. RandomPerson walks over to the door... reaches for it... and hears a blood-curdling scream. "It's just paleona-" says IdahoSciGuy. But then there is a rumbling- and the room starts shaking. "We need to get through the door!" says Idaho. Random waits no longer- he throws open the door... and nearly falls into a wide chasm. This room is just a narrow hallway to the next door- minus the hallway. Then, five floor tiles rise in a row in front of the five survivors. The voice instructs the participants to each step on a tile. Suddenly, a barrier rises between each participant. They have no idea where the other survivors are.
Only the riskiest may survive.
Every hour one tile will rise in front of you, so you can continue on your way. There are 96 tiles, so if you just waited, it would take 4 days. But you don't have to wait! At any time, you can choose to press your luck and PM both robodude and myself. A random number will be selected between one and ten. You will advance twice that number of tiles. But beware: If you get a ten, you will be forced to retreat to the start and start over. Be careful. Once you reach the end of the hallway, you are allowed to exit through the door.

The reality:
I stared at the puzzle, found both names simultaneously, and PMed them both (and a few others)
