You can still help out with SO in the west; there are plenty of regional and state level competitions, just don't expect any SO National level competitions at least anytime soon.zyzzyva98 wrote:I dislike the idea. I think it's great they're partnering with a good university, not much bad can come out of that, but I was hoping to go out west when I graduated to maybe help out with it. No offense, people from Illinois, but I go through your state several times a year and it's a bit... boring. Not much novelty value. I'm the sort of person that likes to travel.>.>
But from an unbiased standpoint, it's probably good for SO.

and absolutely awesome! Honestly, if we make it, I wanna go as far away as possible. They seem to dislike the idea of having nats on west coast =/, so I'm going to settle for Wisconsin =PBubba1960 wrote:Wisconsin is compleatly and utterly boring. The perfect place for SciOly!
It really sucks because I've never ever really traveled for science olympiad, since states for me is 45 mins away

I don't think I'd have a reason to go out west to help out with SO in the short term. I do know that as soon as I graduate I'm going to contact my regional coordinator to see what I can do to help.penclspinner wrote: You can still help out with SO in the west; there are plenty of regional and state level competitions, just don't expect any SO National level competitions at least anytime soon.

I personally think it would be cool to do nationals in New York.It would be cool to visit. *Hides in the suitcase of a nats-bound student from a huge school* You all will have to tell me more about what its like later to compete at nats. Sounds epicly fun. *green with envy*

believe me, it's not that fun here.... The only semi-interesting part of NY is NYC, and I doubt they would be able to find a location large enough and willing to fit that many people on their campus on 1 weekend.aubrey048 wrote:I personally think it would be cool to do nationals in New York.It would be cool to visit. *Hides in the suitcase of a nats-bound student from a huge school* You all will have to tell me more about what its like later to compete at nats.
