By perched water, should it be assumed you mean perched water table, or perched aquifer? If so, then yes (thus perched aquifer) though I'm not 100% sure..

Yeah, I still think this leaves room for...interpretation. It can't hurt to ask, I guess. You should be fine by constucting your aquifer, dumping your junk (droppers, whatever else you need) in the top and then setting them on the bench when you arrive at station 4. Remember that the supervisor will supply water, and that means to me that they will also supply water containers (pitchers etc.), so the beakers may not be needed, anyways. But I suppose it can't hurt to be overprepared, you know what I mean?

EDIT: oh, one consideration: if you don't bring it to station 4, they may not let you go in your bag/box and get it. I know I don't. Remember that.

You don't. Actually, try to bring as little as possible ( only want to bring what you really need to demonstrate) so that it is easier to clean up. The judges take away points if you leave your station messy.

Don't use Crayola air dry clay . When you pour water over it turns to liquid. I suggest to try out your clay before competition to see if it does this.

No - coffee filters can only remove suspended material. For dissolved substances like food coloring you might want to try activated charcoal.

are we allowed to use ammonia? and how do we activate the charcoal?

How are methyl blue and charcoal (Although I guess mnstrviola just asked about charcoal) used, and what can you do with them?

You are allowed to use ammonia, I've used it before. I'm pretty sure you can buy activated charcoal.

How would you demonstrate groundwater remediation? I mean, out of the aquifer you could always just use activated carbon with a coffee filter, but within the aquifer, how would you demonstrate it?
