That sucks. We basically build the teams so that the A team has the best chance of going to States (we have 4 or 5 teams at regionals), and everyone else does it more for fun, but we also leave room for movement if you do well at regionals on a nonvarsity team. We still help the other teams and want them to do well.
And I hope WM goes to Nats, I'd love to come (I graduated, but Im not gonna let that stop me

).
It'd be nice for someone to overthrow FM. It was kinda funny, last year when they announced WM won second, we were ecstatic, screaming and jumping and hugging each other. When FM got first, they just knelt calmly for the picture, looking quite bored. I mean this in the spirit of friendly competition; someone needs to take em down a notch.
The A team usually just looked at the B team as a nuisance, but this year the B team met almost as much as the A. They took that as a threat and subsequently looked at us as enemies. (and hey we tied for second, I'd call that a tremendous success considering)
I'd be overjoyed if they lost, a good number of the kids on the team, and one of the coaches need to show a little humility. The initial meeting was a showoff of all the things they had done well for the past 10 or so years.
So good luck to both of your schools.

I agree.. our school is so small, im surprised that we always do so well..I mean we only have like 500 kids, FM has such a larger selection of kids to chose from. I wish that FM wouldnt go to nationals this year so that other teams can have a chance.. NYS is so competitive..
Well, FM probably has about 1200 kids, not incredibly incredibly large (I'm not counting the freshman class because they usually go back to Division B), even so maybe 35 kids showed up at the initial meeting, with 30 trying out, so not as much interest as you would expect.
