I agree with both, as it takes away new, rising teams' chances at qualifying for Nats, just hoping for some way of still sending teams from States with canceled tournaments.

I think a major principle SciOly has held to over the years is geographical diversity, in part explaining the discrepancy in difficulty of obtaining Nats bids across the US, so I think reallocating bids wouldn't be the first course of action? Just a guess.

Maybe we could hold a smaller state with only the first-place team from each regional.

Since NY States unfortunately had to be cancelled, I just wanted to say that I hope no other states have to shut down and I hope whoever makes it has a blast at nats!

I wouldn't say so, as NorCal (as an individual entity) won't be next in line, it'd be Texas (if i remember correctly)
The usual two bids per division are assigned to California state, and the two organizations (Northern California and Southern California) agree (with recognition from the national organization) to each take one bid per division.
Yeah, but would SoCal's team amount actually count? Like would California even have two bids if SoCal's teams don't add to NorCal's #?
Yeah, North CA is 5th by itself.

This is so sad :( To me this seems a bit early but obviously this has been thought about a ton.

As someone who was very excited to compete at Nationals and do well, this is heartbreaking. Science Olympiad means so much to me, and to not be able to go because of something completely out of my control is very hard. I respect the decision of NCSU and NSO to protect our community, and I understand that safety comes first.
