All the rules say that would qualify as a field guide is a commercially produced field guide. And yes. It's a commercially produced field guide so it should count.
Is the Complete Birds of North America a field guide? There's also the NatGeo Field Guide to the Birds of North America which is definitely a field guide but the first one might be like a reference / companion book? idk
Columbia University. Maybe starting an invitational. No promises.

If you're looking for a website where you can get most of your basic information I'd use allaboutbirds, it's run by Cornell and I find it useful for most basic knowledge. It takes me about 10-20 minutes to get all of the information I want down from there but if you're really in a rush, you could do it faster.

I do copy and paste (from Wikipedia and allaboutbirds).

I think the issue here is how long I spend on formatting the information. Whoops.

To format, I usually just use

Classification:
Scientific Name:
Common Name:
Habitat:
Nesting:
Anatomy:
Diet:
Behavior:
Migration:
Interesting Facts:
Conservation:

and a second page with a table of Male/Female or Breeding/Nonbreeding on the y axis and Adult/Juvenile/Chick on the x axis.
I CAN DAB AT COMPETITIONS AGAIN :x :x :x

Isn't it hard to format a huge block of text you copy from Wikipedia/find stuff you may need in that large block of text?

Actually I dont copy paste usually, most the information is overloaded and I usually condense the information.

The way I deal with this is by bolding the most important information from the text. I also only copy and paste sentences I need, and reword stuff as needed to make it more concise and usable. You don't have to copy the entire paragraph unless it's all information that really helps. I think being more picky about what you copy and paste and reading through it to decide what should be in bold text also helps you remember stuff better. You learn more when you have to spend the time to edit your text!

If I have time, I'll copy and paste a paragraph, turn it into a really wordy outline, and then delete, condense, and reword until I have the essentials, if I don't want to keep toggling between the notes and the article.
