Is the Complete Birds of North America a field guide? There's also the NatGeo Field Guide to the Birds of North America which is definitely a field guide but the first one might be like a reference / companion book? idk

If you're looking for a website where you can get most of your basic information I'd use allaboutbirds, it's run by Cornell and I find it useful for most basic knowledge. It takes me about 10-20 minutes to get all of the information I want down from there but if you're really in a rush, you could do it faster.blipblipblip wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 9:22 pm How long does it take you guys to get notes on one bird? I do copy and paste (from Wikipedia and allaboutbirds).
I think the issue here is how long I spend on formatting the information. Whoops.

Isn't it hard to format a huge block of text you copy from Wikipedia/find stuff you may need in that large block of text?blipblipblip wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 7:14 pmBlank25 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 6:44 pm...by copying and pasting.cbrant554 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 11:44 pm If you're looking for a website where you can get most of your basic information I'd use allaboutbirds, it's run by Cornell and I find it useful for most basic knowledge. Re: Ornithology B/C
Actually I dont copy paste usually, most the information is overloaded and I usually condense the information.pepperonipi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:39 pmIsn't it hard to format a huge block of text you copy from Wikipedia/find stuff you may need in that large block of text?blipblipblip wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 7:14 pm

Re: Ornithology B/C
The way I deal with this is by bolding the most important information from the text. I also only copy and paste sentences I need, and reword stuff as needed to make it more concise and usable. You don't have to copy the entire paragraph unless it's all information that really helps. I think being more picky about what you copy and paste and reading through it to decide what should be in bold text also helps you remember stuff better. You learn more when you have to spend the time to edit your text!pepperonipi wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:39 pmIsn't it hard to format a huge block of text you copy from Wikipedia/find stuff you may need in that large block of text?blipblipblip wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 7:14 pm

If I have time, I'll copy and paste a paragraph, turn it into a really wordy outline, and then delete, condense, and reword until I have the essentials, if I don't want to keep toggling between the notes and the article.MissAmargasaurus wrote:The way I deal with this is by bolding the most important information from the text.
