Okay, I don't know why I didn't see this earlier, but somewhere near where are all the degree symbols are, on more advanced calculators, there is normally a sign that looks something like: ->DMS. This converts the decimal to degrees, minutes and seconds, hence the DMS part.

I'm sorry because I'm sure this is simple and I'm going to sound dumb for asking, but what is the equation you put in the calculator to find the decimal that needs to be converted to degrees, minutes, and seconds?

Found a practice test with UTM: http://www.sciencenc.com/Tournament_inf ... cholar.doc. Questions 45 asks for the easting value of a location. How do I get that?

i'm new at this. Can we find out what state map will be on the test?

It will likely be what state you're in, but if not there really isn't a way to know ahead of time. Best advice is to study your state's highway map and the ones around it.

http://www.maptools.com/UsingUTM/UTMdetails.html has information on easting and northing.

It has a map attached to it, even though it's MapQuest. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking, though.

I don't think any test would use MapQuest...
