yes eak227, that's exactly what i'm talking about. I was coaching my WIDI people on Tuesday and i built them a structure with the coins thing. I only judged them on placement of the pieces. There were only a few differences between the two objects as well. Do you guys thing this is way to easy for something at the state level? This was only their second time working together so I wanted to start off easy.

wow my middle school coach didnt even start off that easy

that does sound a bit easy for state

for a challenge try balsa wood, tape, a close pin, paper clips, and paper that was harder for my team than what we did at state two years ago

I don't know what your state level is... I know Indiana state generally has something with about 30-40 pieces if I remember correctly. But again, it varies. Yours sounds crazy with all the weird materials.

My friend built a one-foot high pyramid out of Lego bricks and told his partner to write it out for the writing part.

We tried building one out of chairs, a table, bungee cords, a textbook and KNEX, but failed horribly in the "doing" portion. Today, we did a marshmellow/toothpick structure, which worked very well.

Colorado WIDI is just amazing like that :D hehe I remember one of my practices I've built for my team it consisted of: two tissues, 5 pennies, 5 nickles, 3 cotton swabs, 10 note cards, and tape to stick it all together :D

Most often, we use Knex, Legos, or colored styrofoam balls and toothpicks.
