Yikes- I haven't been on here in a while. I remember intending on volunteering for the Midwestern Regional...and then it happened on Saturday. Whoops!

Congrats to everyone who did well! I'll see everyone who made it to States in March, whether as a proctor or just as a fan for Hicksville

edit: And yep syo, Hicksville B was 8th. First time they managed to crack a top 10 B team since my freshman year, I'm proud of them

Ah, congrats! Hopefully I'll see you guys at states... It's really far from us, and that's assuming we do make it, which we might not. We'll see.
I'm pretty nervous. :x

So we didn't make states. But we were one place away! Top three made it.

Southern Tier results:
1) Vestal
2) Maine-Endwell
3) Chenango Forks
4) Ithaca (:D)

That's all they revealed today. We didn't get any scores or anything.

These six go to States.

Oh wow...I had no idea there was a whole forum for science olympiad! LOL.
Anyway, I was so happy to hear that they're seriously considering splitting ELI into two different regionals! If Nassau did it, I see no reason why Suffolk can't. most districts in south/central suffolk simply don't have the capacity and resources to compete with the likes of wealthy North Shore districts like HHH, PJ, and 3Villages. Just thought I'd spread the word!

Splitting districts is about size, not competitiveness. Nassau had over 80 teams compete last year. Suffolk had 50 registered but only 49 competed, and this year we were down to 45 actually present.

They may have been having trouble with the spreadsheet. Apparently there has been a rash of that.

Well, the Southern Tier has a reputation of never posting their results anywhere, and they weren't very helpful along the way... They sent a tentative schedule of events in November, which threw us off a bit. I would have liked a bit more time. That tentative event schedule ended up not actually being tentative, which wasn't too bad, but I don't know... They didn't run Experimental Design or Technical Problem Solving.

Maybe they are having trouble and I'm just being cynical. But honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I never got to see the full results.
