What different types of containers are there??? I just know of the one. The one that is a gallon jug cut between 14-15 cm from the bottom.riceman wrote:I totally agree - We tried to set up a course that would be a worst case scenario. Tallest quarter round obstacle, smooth hard board surface providing least traction and practicing with two types of containers. Prepare for the worst and hopefully you won't get any surprises the day of the event.jander14indoor wrote: Unknowns are a fact of life in real world engineering. You can estimate them, gather data on them, maybe but bounds on them, etc. But in the end you cannot eliminate them. So you must consider them in your design.

Yes, but there are different types of milk gallons because there are different brands.

Re: Robo-Cross B
Why did you cut of the handle??? That's not in the rules.bob doyson wrote:We did the same thing as in the picture above, but we cut off the remainder of the handle.riceman wrote:There has been some feedback from our regional event captain regarding the type of jug that will be used. He originally specified he would be using a milk jug but when questioned about the irregularity due to the handle he switched to a water jug. Now someone stated that they designed robots to use the remaining handle on the milk jug to place it upright. I still don't think we have an official decision so we are practicing with both. I would be interested to hear if anyone else is going through this.

Can anyone find the examples for the Tech. Documentation on www.soinc.org?

Re: Robo-Cross B
I think the first three posts on this page speak to that. As far as I can find, the examples don't exist. But, that's okay. Reading Jeff Anderson's post reassured me that this isn't as difficult an exercise as some might make it out to be. The first one is as easy as a labeled photograph. The second is A)what the controls are and B)how your robot will move the different objects in the arena listed in the rules. The third is something you should be doing while testing, anyway (recording time, score, and a third thing to compare practice runs).
Other than doing all of the practice runs, this is not a difficult task compared to actually building the robot. Have your coach review what you've made once you write it up to make sure it looks clear! That's what I told my team to do. Lastly, as noted, doing this incorrectly or not at all is a 5% deduction on your score. That matters, but it's not a competition violation level of bad. So, I wouldn't stress over it.

Re: Robo-Cross B
Can more than one person operate the robot? Because I just got a VEX kit, and we were thinking about making attachments. So can my partner and I operate it at the same time?? Thanks...

Re: Robo-Cross B
I need to know some simple modifications to make. My partner and I finished building a robot from a kit and it can carry everything, but the only thing we need is a modification. Does anyone know any easy modifications? Also, where can I see an example of a Technical Documentation?

Re: Robo-Cross B
Try changing something like the length of the arm or how it gets around. (for example, you can install treads on a car)
