I hope, sassy, that you don't mind me giving my 2 cents. Regardless, here are 2 ideas for this clue:
Paleonaps was targetted as a cold-blooded killer in 65.
Skink, until recently, was a lizard of some sort, thus cold blooded, and also an assassinator, thus a killer.

This is all under the assumption that your In True Blood lead is correct. I didn't bother checking that.

I would protect paleonaps based on two's logic, typical he's targeted first and he hasn't been yet.

I doubt that I myself need an protect. I can see no relations with the clue to me. Hopefully my guess is correct.

I protect Paleonaps because of the reasons in the two comments above.
