Re: New York 2009
FM won every round they played in Sumo
the scoring was a mistake
I watched the whole thing (both the prelims and the finals)
Red Creek, Syr Academy of Science, and FM did not loose one round until the finals
Red Creek beat Syr Academy
FM beat Red Creek
FM beat Syr Academy
I just hope Red Creek didn't realize
Best of luck to the top teams in Mid-State at states!

Re: New York 2009
We didn't watch every round, with 6 events it was kinda hard to. So if the coordinators and some other spectators told us that they lost one round we went with it.

Re: New York 2009
Wait, Sumo Bots is not listed as an event. Is it just used in NY, or is it a trial? If it is a trial, there isn't that big of a difference for the teams, just the individual participants didn't get the medals they were supposed to.

Re: New York 2009
Yep, just a trial event that has no effect on the team's score at regionals.
For our regional anyway. Though at states it does count towards the total score.

Re: New York 2009
Alright, glad to hear no foul play
I actually cant believe it counts as an event anyway (along with solar, the other trial event for NY that counts as well)
for sumo, the competition at states comes down to the sharpest "blade" - whoever is closest to the ground
not to mention robot parts are expensive for schools to buy. I remember some of the motors we used to buy for robot ramble ramble were about $40 a piece! Not to mention wheels, micro-controllers, remotes, crystals, miscellaneous parts... the list goes on!
almost blew our whole budget on one event!
Ah well... good times
Again, best of luck at states

Re: New York 2009
Yeah, I'm glad it isn't an actual event, because it all depends on who you get paired up with. Because there were some bots in the finals at states last year I could have beaten hands down, but if only 1 from each time slot goes and you get paired up with who is going to be in 1st than even though you might be able to earn a 5th place medal you can't because you lost to the 1st place team and thus end up getting 22nd place. Blah.
